On April 11-12, St. Stephen’s College affiliated to the University of Delhi (DU) hosted the seminar titled Leo Tolstoy: Philosophical Horizons organized with the support of the Russian Embassy in India. Among the honoured guests of the event to commemorate the 190th anniversary of the great Russian writer, were Mr A.Annamalai, Director of the National Gandhi Museum, Prof. Ramesh C. Bhardwaj, Director of the Gandhi Bhawan (DU), Prof. Rajeev Gupta, DU Dean (Students’ Welfare), Prof. John Varghese, St. Stephen’s College Principal, Dr Neelakshi Suryanarayan, Head of the Department of Slavonic and Finno-Ugrian Studies (DU), Mr Anatoly Kargapolov, Minister-Counsellor of the Russian diplomatic mission and  other representatives of the Embassy and Rossotrudnichestvo as well as scholars from Russia.

Manuals of Russian language and literature handed over to JNU

On January 25, thanks to the joint efforts by the Russian Embassy in New Delhi, Millenium Indian International Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (MIICCIA) and Russian-Indian Amicability Diplomatic Club, the JNU Center of Russian Studies (CRS) received over fifty modern textbooks of the Russian language and literature. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Satish Chandra Garkoti, JNU Rector II, Prof. Ranjana Banerjee, CRS Chairperson, Mr Gaurav Ravish, MIICCIA Additional Director, Mr Abdul Basit, Amicability Vice President, Mr Anatoly Kargapolov, Minister-Counsellor of the Russian Embassy and other Russian diplomats, professors and students of the University, Russian compatriots.

On December 3, the Russian Embassy in India saw the unveiling of the portrait of the first Indian cosmonaut Wg. Cdr. (Retd.) Rakesh Sharma painted by Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Arts Mr Vladimir Anisimov. The main guest of the event jointly organized with the BRICS Chamber of Commerce and Industry was the cosmonaut himself. The function was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, business circles, the International Federation of Indo-Russian Youth Clubs, as well as professors and students from leading Delhi universities.

On September 18, Siri Fort Auditorium hosted “Sobraniye-2018”, a farewell ceremony for Indian students departing to study in Russia. The function organized by Indo-Russian company Rus Education and the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in New Delhi saw the presence of the Indian diplomats, officials, politicians, members of Indo-Russian friendship societies, alumni of Russian universities, compatriots, entrants, their parents, as well as the representatives of the Embassy of Russia in India.

The Inauguration Ceremony of International BRICSmath-2018 competition

On July 25, an online competition in mathematics for the primary school students of the BRICS member states (BRICSMath) was inaugurated at St. Xavier's High School in Gurugram. The initiative was launched by the Russian education platform Uchi.ru and supported by the Embassy of Russia in India and the Russian Centre of Science and Culture (RCSC) in New Delhi.
