National Day of Russia in New Delhi

On June 12, Russian Embassy in New Delhi hosted a solemn function on the occasion of the National Day of Russia. The festive event saw the presence of the Indian MEA representatives and officials from other ministries, 50 heads of diplomatic missions and senior diplomats of the diplomatic corps in New Delhi, military attaches, prominent Indian politicians and public figures, representatives of the scientific and cultural elite, famous businessmen, political scientists, journalists, staff members of Russian organizations and Russian compatriots living in India. Minister of External Affairs of India H.E. Mrs. Sushma Swaraj attended the function as a Chief Guest from the Indian side.<br />
Russian Ambassador to India H.E. Mr Nikolay R. Kudashev delivered a welcome address to the guests pointing out that traditionally strong friendly ties between Moscow and New Delhi are very significant. The Ambassador thanked Chief Guest for her personal valuable contribution to the strengthening of the bilateral ties and emphasized the important role of the informal summit between the leaders of both countries in Sochi this May along with the annual summits for further developing cooperation. According to H.E. Mr Nikolay R. Kudashev, “Russia and India may proudly boast of their durable and multipronged ties, defining the true essence of a Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership, therefore our common goal is to continue fulfilling the inexhaustible potential of bilateral trade, investment, technological, scientific and cultural interaction as well as strengthening our cooperation multilaterally”. <br />
Minister of External Affairs of India H.E. Mrs. Sushma Swaraj conveyed her warm and good wishes to the friendly people of Russia on the occasion of National Day of Russia as well as wished Russia success in hosting the forthcoming FIFA World Cup.<br />
The official part finished with the screening of the promo-videos devoted to the application of Ekaterinburg city to host “Expo-2025”, culture and heritage of the Russian nations together with the Football World Cup being shown during the whole function. <br />
The artists from Moscow a capella band “Pyatero” (“The Five”) contributed to the festive mood of the solemn event. They sang popular songs and stirring dance compositions in Russian, English and Hindi languages. <br />
The colourful illumination of the Embassy’s premises created the festive atmosphere of the state function and painted the solemn evening by myriads of lights representing the flag of Russia. <br />
The event received coverage by all the Indian TV channels as well as by major local and Russian multimedia news agencies.
