VIII All-Indian Conference of Russian Compatriots opened in Chennai
Mrs Elena Barman, President of IARC, its regional members – Mrs Tatyana Barysheva (Mumbai), Mrs Olga Frolova (Hyderabad), Mrs Anastasia Gritsay (Siolim, Goa), Mrs Irina Malysheva (Kolkata), Mrs Tatyana Sysoeva (Chennai), as well as Mr Ratheesh C. Nair, Honorary Consul of Russia, Director of RCSC in Trivandrum, attended the event.
Addressing the audience, Mr Oleg Avdeev, Consul General of the Russian Federation to Chennai, and Mr M.Ktitorov, First Secretary of the Russian Embassy in India, highlighted the priorities on interaction with compatriots abroad, first of all, protection of their rights and legitimate interests, promotion of the Russian language, literature, culture and history studies, consolidation of the diaspora. The contribution by fellow citizens in organizing the Immortal Regiment WWII Commemoration March was highly praised.
Mrs Elena Barman informed the guests about the IARC achievements during 2019-2020. The reports by regional branches of the Association were also presented. The participants exchanged experience in public educational activities. The focus was made on publishing work by Mrs Anastasia Gritsay (who issues Colours of Goa journal and The Goan Times newspaper) and the project by Mrs Irina Malysheva on the essay contest among Indians titled On Russia in No Rush sponsored by Gorchakov Fund. The delegates made suggestions to support the said initiatives.
The resolution adopted upon conclusion of the conference outlined the IARC plans for 2020.
During the event the textbooks were handed over to the RCSC Chennai Courses of Russian Language, with financial assistance from Prabha Khaitan Foundation, Kolkata
