Tree-plantation event in Buddha Park

On June 12, Russia’s National Day, the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of India with the support of the Central Public Works Department (CPWD), Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs, Government of India, organized a tree-plantation event in one of Indian capital’s most picturesque parks – Buddha Jayanti Park.<br />

Dr Konstantin Malashenkov, Counsellor (Agriculture), together with Mr Vinit Kumar Jayaswal, Director General, CPWD, planted five saplings of the local specie Mimusops elengi, known in India as moulsri, at the park’s central alley. Indian gardening specialist noted, that this plant is considered sacred in Hinduism and grows in paradise.<br />

“These trees have a symbolic significance – they symbolize our friendship and the beginning of a new life after the new coronavirus pandemics is over”, Dr Malashenkov said.<br />
“It is a big honour to us to plant these trees together with the representatives of the Russian Embassy on occasion of their National Day”, Mr Jayaswal said.<br />
