Russian tourism potential showcased in India by Rostourism

On December 18, at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in New Delhi, with the support of the World Tourism Organization, Rossotrudnichestvo and the Embassy of Russia in India, a road show presentation by the Federal Agency for Tourism (Rostourism), “Russia 2020. EURO as a gift”, was held. It was dedicated to the most important Russian tourist destinations, Russian e-visas system development, as well as the upcoming UEFA Championship matches to be played in June-July 2020 in St Petersburg, which can be visited by football fans for this period visa free with FAN IDs.<br />

As Ms Zarina Doguzova, Head of Rostourism noted in her video address, “in Russia there is everything for the trip there to become the best adventure in your life”. The guests, including representatives of Indian tour operators, got acquainted with the tourist opportunities of Russian regions and cities, such as St. Petersburg, Kaliningrad, Leningrad and Yaroslavl regions, the Republic of Tatarstan, the Golden Ring and the Silver Necklace of Russia, as well as with attractive features of winter sports and leisure in the country.<br />

According to the general opinion of the audience, the Russian-Indian tourist flow in both directions, which has doubled over the past nine years, has significant potential for further growth. Its prospects are largely related to the success of India Friendly project presented at the event, supervised by Rostourism. The goal is to create a comfortable environment for tourists from India in Russia, taking into account their national culture specifities, including through training of cooks, guides, service personnel.<br />

The performances by Ilmira Bagautdinova, Mariinsky Theater ballerina and Vladimir Brilev, who sang the anthem of the FIFA World Cup held in Russia in 2018 added charm to the function. Together with Edgard Zapashny, General Director of the Great Moscow State Circus on Vernadsky Avenue they participated as honorary tourist ambassadors.<br />
