Remarks by Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of India Mr Nikolay Kudashev on the occasion of the Indian Independence Day
15 August 2020
Wholeheartedly congratulate all Indian friends on the Independence Day!
Throughout decades, free India demonstrated tremendous will to transform itself, ensure modernization, resolve problems and at the same time contribute to the world. India has shown an impressive progress in areas of economy, development, science, technology, medicine, culture and many others. Indian profile and influence on the international stage increased significantly.
Now Honourable Prime Minister Narendra Modi proudly announced that the country is ready to become self-reliant, or ARTMANIRBHAR.
We are happy to acknowledge that since the very beginning, the then Soviet Union and now Russia has always been part of this success story. Elevated to the Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership in 2010, our decades-long friendship has achieved unprecedented results in many vital areas of cooperation.
It includes exceptional mutual trust, understanding and support by jointly promoting unified agenda under the central role of the UN and international law as well as establishment of just and equal multipolar world. Russia also remains a critical partner of India in terms of co-development in the defence, nuclear power, oil and gas, innovations, space sectors, etc.
Historically, we are also of a strong belief that challenges need to be tackled together, by combined efforts, as we do today while supporting each other bilaterally and multilaterally against COVID-19 and other threats in order to secure stable, sustainable and peaceful environment in the region and the world.
On this special occasion, let me wish you every success and the best of health! Do take care and stay well and safe!
Long live Russia-India friendship! Jai Hind, Jai Rus!
