Quiz on Indo-Russian Relations at Delhi University
The Principal of St.Stephens College J.Varghese, the Head of the Department of Slavonic and Finno-Ugrian Studies of Delhi University N.Suryanarayan, former Indian Foreign Secretary and Indian Ambassador to Russia K.Raghunath and the Counsellor (Culture) of the Russian Embassy N.M.Mgeladze delivered their welcome speeches to the guests.
The quiz consisted of six rounds and encompassed questions on the history of the establishment of Indo-Russian diplomatic relations as well as the modern development of bilateral interaction. Participants found extremely interesting to answer the questions on biographies and activities of Russian and Indian Ambassadors including late A.M.Kadakin, who passed away on January 26, 2017, in New Delhi and was posthumously awarded Padma Bhushan for the outstanding contribution to the development of ties between the two countries.
The team of Jamia Milia Islamia University has won the quiz, sharing the first place with the team of the Russian Embassy. Assistant professor of Delhi University G.Munjal, organizer of the event, argued that all the participants had shown excellent knowledge of the history and modern state of Indo-Russian cooperation.
Musical and dance performances by the Indian students were part of the event. The Russian diplomats made a pleasant surprise for everybody singing popular Hindi songs.
