On the visit of Russian Ambassador to India H.E. Mr Nikolay R.Kudashev to Himachal Pradesh

On April 28 – May 2, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of India H.E. Mr Nikolay R. Kudashev visited Himalayan Kullu Valley (Northern Indian state of Himachal Pradesh), where he participated in the festive events dedicated to the 90th Anniversary of the Roerichs’ setting in Kullu. During the visit, the Russian Ambassador met with Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh H.E. Mr Jairam Thakur, Kullu District Administration, as well as Head of Naggar Panchayat Smt. Sushma Sharma.
Their conversations touched upon the issues of further strengthening of interregional cooperation, the importance of broader interaction in agriculture, education and tourism. The idea of Naggar joining the Federation of the most beautiful villages of the Earth was proposed.
Special attention was paid to the issues of preservation of the unique heritage of the Roerich family; the significance of efficient functioning of the International Roerich Memorial Trust was stressed. The parties discussed the plans to transform the Roerich Estate into a cultural and scientific center of international standards.
Ambassador Nikolay R. Kudashev participated in the inauguration ceremony of the festival “The Roerichs’ Himalayan Estate – Karma-Bhumi of the great Russian Family” at the Roerichs’ Estate in Naggar, as well as in the inauguration ceremonies of children painting exhibitions “India Through the Eyes of the Children and Youth of Russia” and “Russia Through the Eyes of Indian Children and Youth” within the framework of the International Children and Youth festival “Russia-India: From Heart to Heart”.
The exposition of the results of the Russian artists’ open air art camp “Art Expedition-2018. The Himalayas” and the exhibition of paintings by Indian artist Shiv Kumar “Harmony of Nature” took a particular place among the celebrations. The academic seminar of Russian and Indian art historians, philosophers and political scientists “The Roerichs in Kullu: Aspects of Creativity” took place during the festival. The Green Theater ground hosted master classes by Russian and Indian artists, the fair of artworks by Kullu masters and the traditional children’s painting competition for local students.
The festive events in the Himalayas were covered by Russian and Indian news agencies.
