On Rising Himachal Global Investors Meet

On November 7-8, 2019 Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh hosted Rising Himachal Global Investors Meet involving representatives of the country's leadership, the diplomatic corps, business and academia from 11 countries: Russia, Germany, the Netherlands, the UAE, etc. The Russian side was represented by the Embassy and Gazprombank OJSC, agricultural business, scientific and cultural circles.

The event was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. In his welcoming speech, he told the participants about the history of the emergence and implementation of such investment initiatives starting 2014, emphasizing his readiness to provide maximum assistance to foreign investors in all key sectors of the region’s economy.

The Russian delegates held a series of meetings with the Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, other heads of the concerned offices.

On the sidelines of the Forum, under the auspices of the National Roerich Committee (NRC, Russia) with the support of the Embassy India hosted a round table “International Roerich Memorial Trust in Himachal Pradesh – Centre for Development of Cultural and Scientific Cooperation between Russia and India”, which was attended by the heads of scientific public organizations of Russia - Mikhail Chiryatiev (Chairman of the St. Petersburg regional branch of the NRC, corresponding member of the International Academy of Ecology and Safety of Man and Nature, member of the Board of Trustees of the International Roerich Memorial Trust (IRMT), Irina Gerasimova (Deputy Chairman of the Scientific Council of the NRC) and others. The Indian side was represented by R. Singh, Deputy Head of the Himachal Pradesh State Administration, K. Singh, Director of the Department of Literature, Art and Culture, S.Chandel, member of IRMT, as well as heads of regional research institutes - N.Shakspo (Director of the Center for Research on Ladakh Sabu, Leh, Ladakh), T.Tsering (Director of the Mahan Institute, Tibetologist, Dharmashala), A. Kumar (Bangalore and Pondicherry), etc.

During the discussions, the relevance of scientific research by the outstanding Roerich family in the field of medicine, agriculture, philosophy was discussed. Particular attention was paid to the need to maintain and provide financial support to Nicholas Roerich’s estate in the city of Naggar.
