LETTERHEAD OF THE MINISTRY OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS
OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION
Moscow, June 17, 2020
Dear Mr Minister,
Please, accept my warmest and most sincere congratulations on the election of the Republic of India as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the period 2021–2022.
I am firmly convinced that in this capacity India will actively contribute to strengthening the central and coordinating role of the UN in global affairs, increasing its efficiency and authority, establishing a fair and equitable world order and searching for collective responses to current challenges and threats.
We look forward to close interaction with India in the UNSC in the framework of the special and privileged strategic partnership between our countries, taking also into consideration consonance or concurrence of approaches of Moscow and New Delhi to the majority of the issues of the UNSC agenda. I am confident that our joint work on the platform of this body will make a significant contribution to the political and diplomatic settlement of regional and international crises and will foster further progressive development of the friendly Russian-Indian relations.
DR S. JAISHANKAR,
MINISTER OF EXTERNAL AFFAIRS,
GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
I propose to hold consultations between our Ministries on the UNSC issues at the senior and expert levels, coordinating date and venue through the diplomatic channels.
