Immortal Regiment Campaign In New Delhi
Minister-Counsellor of the Russian Embassy H.E. Mr Anatoly V.Kargapolov delivered a greeting speech to the guests highlighting the importance of such events for preserving the memory of the Great Patriotic War and defending historical truth. He also emphasized the decisive contribution of all the peoples of the Soviet Union to the victory over fascism and appealed to commemorate all the war victims with minute’s silence.
An exhibition of portraits of the Great Patriotic War veterans, provided by their relatives, became an integral part of the solemn event.
Students of the Russian Embassy School and the children’s educational center “Rostok” as well as compatriots’ kids took part in a festive concert. The students shared stories about the heroic deeds of their relatives, performed colourful dances, recited poems and sang war songs. The Indian guests made a pleasant surprise for everybody performing the exciting Russian sailor’s dance “Yablochko” and singing the popular military song “Katyusha” in Russian.
The program timed to the celebration of the Victory Day saw the traditional “St. George’s Ribbon” campaign, photo exhibitions “The History of the Great Victory” and “The Time Links” (by the TASS news agency), as well as the children’s painting exhibition “The World Through Children’s Eyes” prepared by the Russian compatriots.
