Day of Russia in New Delhi 2019

On June 12, Russian Embassy in New Delhi hosted a solemn function on the occasion of the Day of Russia. The festive event was attended by more than 700 guests, including Indian MEA representatives and officials from other ministries, 65 heads and senior staff of diplomatic missions in New Delhi, military attaches, prominent Indian political and public figures, representatives of the scientific and cultural elite, businessmen, political scientists, journalists, staff members of Russian organizations and Russian compatriots living in India. Foreign Secretary V.K. Gokhale attended the function as a Chief Guest from the Indian side and Governor of Manipur Najma Heptulla was the Guest of Honor.
Russian Ambassador to India H.E. Mr Nikolay R. Kudashev delivered a welcome address to the guests, stressing the great importance of the traditionally strong friendly ties between Moscow and New Delhi. The Ambassador told the guests about the intensity of political contacts at all levels between our countries, great potential to strengthen bilateral trade, economic, investment, military and military-technical, as well as humanitarian cooperation.
In turn, Foreign Secretary V.K. Gokhale noted that Russia has always been and remains a close and reliable friend of India, the development of comprehensive relations with which is a priority of the country's foreign policy.
The official part of the reception continued with the presentation of the Order of Friendship to Governor of Manipur H.E. Ms Najma Heptulla for the great contribution to the strengthening of mutual understanding, friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Taking the response, the Governor thanked the Russian leadership, namely President Vladimir Putin, for the honor and conveyed her warm and good wishes to the friendly people of Russia on the occasion of National Day.
During the reception the guests were able to watch promo-videos devoted to culture and traditions of the peoples of Russia, as well as materials dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the birth of M.T. Kalashnikov and the 90th anniversary of the birth of Ye.M. Primakov.
The artists of the Moscow quartet “StradiValenki”, who masterfully performed masterpieces of world classics, incendiary dance compositions, as well as popular songs from Russian and Indian films on the accordion, contrabass, piano and violin contributed to the festive mood of the solemn event.
The colourful illumination of the Embassy’s premises created the festive atmosphere of the state function and painted the solemn evening by myriads of lights representing the flag of Russia.
