On September 9, Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the 13th BRICS summit, held under the India’s Chairship via videoconference. In the first place, he expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and all Indian friends for the active work conducted by India as the BRICS Chair this year. He underlined that despite the unusual conditions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, India as the Chair has done everything it could to ensure the progressive development of strategic partnership of the BRICS countries without any setbacks. Russian-Indian consultations on Security
On September 8, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev paid a working visit to India. He was received by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi (https://bit.ly/3hm1Euu) and had a separate meeting with External Affairs Minister Dr. S.Jaishankar (https://bit.ly/3A0Zw2w).
As a follow-up to the telephone conversation between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held on August 24, Patrushev had detailed consultations with National Security Advisor to the Prime Minister of India Ajit Doval. The Sides exchanged views on the military, political and socio-economic situation in Afghanistan. They touched upon humanitarian and migration problems in this country, as well as prospects for the Russian-Indian joint efforts aimed at creating conditions for launching a peaceful settlement process based on an intra-Afghan dialogue.

On September 7, Chairwoman of the Russian Upper House Valentina Matvienko took part in the Fifth World Conference of Speakers of Parliament held in Vienna.
On the sidelines of the Conference she also had a meeting with Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. They discussed development of the inter-parliamentarian ties between the two countries, the role of parliamentarians in securing potential of trade, economic, political, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as joint efforts to combat COVID-19.
Order of Friendship Awarding Ceremony
On September 6, the Embassy hosted a solemn ceremony of presenting the Order of Friendship to the first President of the New Development Bank Mr Kundapur Vaman Kamath.
In his address the Russian Ambassador to India H.E. Mr Nikolai R.Kudashev noted that this award represents deep appreciation of Mr Kamath’s outstanding professionalism as one of the leading economists and recognition of his great contribution to the New Development Bank activities.
The ceremony was attended by the ambassadors of the BRICS countries, including in a virtual format, a number of the CIS diplomatic missions, representatives of the Indian External Affairs and Finance Ministries, diplomats, journalists and experts.
Russian Energy Week 2021
